Stephen Lindsley

Pythagoras called this concept the "music of the spheres" or *musica universalis*. Both Plato and Kepler later picked up on this idea as well. The relation of music to mathematics was a Pythagorean speciality. The idea here is that each heavenly body makes a sound as it moves through space, and the harmony created among them is the music of the universe.
