One of the ironies of the ease of use of GUI is that the apparent ease of use in the interface occludes the complexity of the engineering, especially since people can't see and touch programming.
It just dawned on my myself, as I was reading some instructions for Linux that this stuff is so much easier than DOS, which I forced myself to learn and it wasn't that difficult, but because I'm so accustomed to pointing and clicking, using a command line to open up another gui. The only thing problematic is that Linux instructions typically assume basic knowledge of Linux, which is becoming less the case as people like me start venturing out.
Part of me hates learning this stuff because it increases the degree to which I can micro-manage, noticing something a coder or system admin person is doing.
I just need to remember that curiousity and retained information lend themelves to deductive reasoning in anything.
